Regarding my advert thread: http://freeadvertise.proboards.com/index....lay&thread=8719
I find it strange that a moderator could take the time to respond to my topic and even lock it but cant move it into the right directory. Why arent you guys moving them into their proper categories? Anyone could clear out the whole list and put them where they go in about a half hour.

At the end of the day, it takes time to process adverts, check them, and add them to databases. We can't give you special treatment because you bump your thread a lot.

Our staff don't get paid to do it, you don't pay to advertise here, so we'll process as quickly as we can.

Sorry to be harsh, but it's a hard job.

I know. I ran an advertising forum that had hundreds of daily visitors, 2,500+ members, and 200,000 posts. It only took a few seconds to move a topic from one category into another. You are making it sound harder than it actually is. Me and my staff would never let adverts sit in "limbo" for days and days and days.

Yeah, the problem is the board was understaffed for too long, and it was difficult to see what was new - that's why we have the Advert Submission board.

We also add forums to directories, so it isn't that easy.

Well if you cant handle the directory part, then you should not do it until you have some staff. Saying something like "its too much work, we cant handle it, you are lucky you even get to advertise here" doesn't reflect to greatly on this forum. Just my thoughts.

You do your things how you like on your own forum, and we'll do them how we see fit here.

Seeming that I am the moderator in question about my actions, and this is about the area I work in, and since since I haven't responded yet, I think I'll tell you what's sup.

Before I give a responce, I am going to tell you the history of FTA. If you didn't know, I was hired here in May this year as an advertising mod, and about 1-2 weeks ago I became a gmod, but that isn't the important part. Ever since a month ago, we had 15 different sub-boards where mods would have to check to see new adverts, until I convinced admins we need the one board. Before I was a part of the team, there was only one moderator. That made things a bit slow. Then when I got hired, things sped up and stuff, until I started cleaning out some databases. During this time, we had a bit of a problem and didn't take care of as much of the incoming, and then a waiting list gathered in the RPG board. Because of this, we rarely did. So then when we created the ad submit board, there were 150 ads waiting. It was slightly an act of carelessness if you may, but we are working to fix it.

Now about your thread. I will quote what I said:

As a warning, you can't bump your threads in here. This is disable now for members. If you do so as a guest, your thread will be locked. If you would read the sticky on the top of the page, it will guide you further about the policy.
~ Quacker Jack

First off, why do I notice and respond right away to these over the others? When I see someone responded to a thread, I need to check and find out what they are doing. Now about your thread. Bumping was in the rules, and I wasn't going to lock it until you were bump crazy and wanted to become a guest and bump it. So that should end yapping there.

Now about accepting and moving the advertisements, your dead wrong. It would never take 30 minutes to finish all of those. If I was able to find a free 6 hours of my time in a row without getting sidetracked, I could probably do it. Actually, your right. I could easily "move" them to the right board. But I do a hell of an amount of stuff before even getting to that point. For each ad, I must first look at the thread and make sure it obeys the rules. The I look at the forum. I must observe what the forum is about (though I can generally tell by title) and its activity level.. On occasion, I will post FTA's thread ad in an advertisement board that people sometimes have on their site. After I make sure things are taken care of, I approve/disapprove the thread, and move it to the right board. Then I got to put it in the database. All of that takes roughly 4-7 minutes to do per thread. So, you were saying how many 30 minutes?

Look, you don't work here, and you aren't me. Unless you want to be a moderator, I'll let the admins tell me if I am doing a bad job. It isn't like I am not working to fix it.

I think this lengthy comment should answer yours not as lengthy.

Sorry but I am giving my opinions and I am entitled to them. Every member of this forum is entitled to give their feedback, otherwise you wouldnt have a feedback forum here.

I was simply commenting on the forum and its lack of getting anything accomplished, yet can jump all over the opportunity to use mod tools and write lengthy reasons as why nothing is getting done.
Perhaps you should close this forum temporarily, sort everything out, then reopen it. Once everything is sorted, you all should stay on top of things.

Just my suggestions, Im not trying to start a fight here. So please dont jump all over me for giving my opinions. Webmaster and Anselm, I appreciate your responses.

To be honest, I don't think closing the forum would do anything much to help out. We will make sure however when we upgrade to v9 (whenever that is :P) that everything outstanding then is sorted, I'll say that now.

They said give an update, I did. Posting a recent milestone is an update. So that action shouldnt have been taken. The treatment Ive received on this forum is appalling. :o
So now that my thread is locked, am I no longer allowed to advertise here? :-/
If thats the case you can just go ahead and delete the topic and I will delete this forum from my bookmarks. :(

I've been civil for a while, and I expect you to respect that we are providing a free service. We don't have to let you advertise here for free, but we do. That's the first thing to remember.

Second, updates. You don't need to update us every 2 days on how many posts you have. We aren't interested. A new skin, new service, new feature, fair enough. Add posts to that if you want, but it doesn't warrant an update. And yes I am going to post a clarification on that in the rules. The problem is that you are updating too much, once every few weeks is enough, too much and its unfair to others who advertise there.

To be totally honest, you've come here, expected to be able to bump your advert to the top to gain maximum exposure without giving much back, and complained when we've asked you to follow rules. I'm not being funny but it's not on. We are trying to provide a service, if you don't like how we do it, don't use it, plain and simple.

I'm more than happy to unlock your thread if you are willing to keep updates to once every few weeks. We don't want a free-for-all, that's why we keep some rules in place.

Well out of the 30+ other advertising forums I am on, I can bump my topic every few days.
This is the only one I am receiving any problems on and after checking my statistics, I haven't received any incoming traffic from this site despite my efforts here.
Advertising here isn't very productive and not worth the time and hassle I have received from the staff. Feel free to remove my topic. Thanks.
